Don Jackson (1942) served as editor of the University of Illinois Press for 20 years. He authored ten books on American history, and was an expert in trans-Mississippi history. For nearly a decade, Jackson served as editor of The Papers of George Washington at the University of Virginia. The project comprises a 75-volume collection of the president’s papers, letters and diaries.
