Addie Olson

Bio

Addie Olson is the director of marketing and public relations at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. In her role, she communicates the Community Foundation’s mission and vision of promoting charitable giving, connecting donors with causes they care about and providing leadership on important community issues.

Olson began her career in journalism, working as a reporter and multimedia journalist for local ABC and NBC affiliates in Des Moines, Iowa, and Eastern Washington. Prior to moving back to Iowa and joining the Community Foundation, she worked as the multimedia manager for Bay Equity in Portland, Oregon, where she led multimedia production efforts for the company’s dozens of branches throughout the United States.

She graduated from Iowa State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s in journalism and mass communication and a minor in political science. During her time at Iowa State, Olson worked for the Iowa State Daily, interned for Cyclones.tv and served on the ISUtv executive board. She currently serves on the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute Equity & Inclusion committee, and previously served on the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network board of directors.

Olson lives in Des Moines with her fiancé (and fellow Cyclone), Ernst Brun, and they welcomed their first child in November 2021.
