In his own words: After I graduated, I was awarded the Brian Fishman Internship with USA Hockey. After the internship, I was hired full-time by USA Hockey to serve as the marketing and communications coordinator for the National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. I spent two years in Ann Arbor, but after my wife got a great job offer back in Iowa to continue her career in engineering, so we decided to move and I kind of had to start over. I started freelance writing, basically never turning any jobs down, to stay involved. I also was lucky enough to publish three children’s educational books about hockey – *The Stanley Cup Finals, Great Moments in Olympic Ice Hockey*, and *Girls’ Hockey*, which was an absolute dream come true. In the middle of all that, I started my own blog called The United States of Hockey, which I was able to build an audience for over three-plus years. That’s where one of the producers at CBSSports.com found my work and asked me to come on as an NHL prospects writer.
